The medical term for “droopy lids” is ptosis, which can occur in one or both of the lids. Ptosis that is found in children, are often born with it. Adults that experience ptosis usually get it as a result of normal aging, prior surgery, or even through long term contact lens use. There are several different ways that the ptotic lid can be repaired and can depend on the type of ptosis, along with the surgeon’s preference. I personally perform various types ptosis procedures and cater each one to the specific patient’s type and severity of ptosis. Cosmetic upper and lower lid eyelid surgery or even lower eyelid reconstructive surgery can be often combined with ptosis surgery depending on what the patient specifically needs.
